Past President

Mike Paget
Member of the Fellowship since 1981.

Board Liaison: Personnel

UUFC Positions held: Former Chair, Religious Education; Former Chair, Endowment; Manages Coffeehouse; Chair, Long Range Planning Committee

The UUFC is experiencing tremendous growth in professionalism, numbers of active members, and visions. I am energized by the people who attend, and by the commentary I experience at the UUFC.

I hope to see these positive times continue, with lots of congregational implementation of the Long Range Plan goals, including the renovation of our facilities. I believe that the Columbia community needs the voice of the UUFC, and I think we are moving towards being better able to provide that voice.

Mike and Kathy are the powerhouse behind the Coffee House.

President

Joe Long

Member of the Fellowship since 2000.

Board Liaison: Worship Committee

UUFC Positions held: Currently on the Worship Committee and help lead a couple of program groups. Have been Treasurer, Sabbatical, and on Long-Range Planning.

Why I joined the Fellowship? I could't imagine not. I originally became a UU after reading George Marshall's book; my first Sunday in Knoxville I found the UU church there, tried it, and decided I was where I belonged.

Was already a UU when I was offered a job here; found UUFC on the website. When I was job-hunting, that was one of the first things I checked about the places where a job became a possibility.

I like most about this fellowship the respect for thought and reason.

I would like to see this fellowship finally growing into a program church, getting to where we're comfortable with honest, principled disagreement in judgment - which may include losing a vote and not stomping away, more activities and interaction with other UU societies in the area, incorporating all those people in the community who take for granted that we're there and reliably come one or two Sundays a year but don't actively support UUFC.

President-Elect

Don and Pat Mohr

Member of the Fellowship since.

UUFC Positions held:

Joined the fellowship for Community and a way to help the local community

My friend Acacia was concerned I didn't have a church community like she had, and after trying me out on some more traditional religions, suggested I try the UUFC, where I would be encouraged to follow my conscience on religous matters.

The stands we take on matters of religous freedom and community service.

I would like to see us become more diverse.

Favorite memories at the Fellowship: The support I received in assisting the Somali Bantu refugees.

In early 2005 my now ex-wife invited me to go with her to the Fellowship where I was promptly amazed by how at home and comfortable I felt. I knew I had found a place where I could openly explore my beliefs with acceptance.

At-Large Board Member

Marcia Fletcher
Member Since: Fall of 2007.

Board Liaison:

I've been helping out a little with the Technology Group (website) and am currently serving on the ad hoc signage committee. At the congregation that I attended before moving here, I was on the Membership Committee, the Communications Committee, that governing board (5 years) and I served on the Long Range Planning Committee and on the Search Committee that selected the most recent minister.

I joined this fellowship because I wanted to continue my relationship with the UU. I had know about this fellowship for some time and had occassionally attended a service when I was in town. I like the "esprit de corp" here. I have found it to be a warm, energetic and supportive community. I would like to see us proceed with the capital improvement plan as soon as possible.

At-Large Board Member

Andrea Pixley
I started attending 10/07 and officially joined 4/08.

Board Liaison: Religious Education

UUFC Positions Held: Technology Services Committeee 2008 - Present

I joined the Fellowship in search of community and acceptance.

I had been looking for more information about UU when I met a member of the Fellowship. After speaking with that person, I decided to attend.

I would like for us to be able to fulfill the best dreams of our members for a beautiful spiritual space, an inclusive and active community of servant leaders, and the growing of new leaders.

I would love to see the Fellowship's renovation plan become a reality.
