Ministerial MusingsOut of the Trenches The scene is the muddy, rat-infested trenches of France during World War I. On one side are the French and English armies, cold and homesick, huddled in human-sized gutters hundreds of miles long. On the other side are German soldiers, equally cold and homesick. Between them is no-man's land, a wasteland made barren by the continual crossfire of artillery. The slightest movement evokes the instant response of rifle and mortar. |
