Finance Committee

Committee Mission: Responsible for fundraising, budgeting, pledge record-keeping, bookkeeping, and other financial matters. All money coming into the Fellowship flows through the finance committee.

The Finance Committee Reports to the Board of Trustees and works with all standing committees.

Purpose:  (from the bylaws):

Average time required per month for standing members consists of :
 

1 meeting on the Saturday before the Board Meeting	(committee)	1.5 hours
Counting Duties after the Sunday Services	(committee)	.75 hours
Develop quarterly statements for members	(chair)	2 hours once per quarter
Fold and mail quarterly statements for members	(committee)	2 hours once per quarter
Board liaison and other administrative duties	(chair)	1.25 hours
Develop list of "red flag" members for membership committee	(chair)	.5 hours
Committee Council liaison	(chair or appointee)	2 hours
Average time requirement for members monthly:	(members)	hours +  2 hours/Quarter
Average time requirement for Chair monthly:	(chair)	6 hours + 4 hours/Quarter

Goals:

1. To make specific recommendations to the Board of Trustees on Financial Management and Policy Issues.
1. To develop a fair, accurate, and realistic budget annually based on accurate estimates of income and expenses from standing committees.

1. Realistic fundraising plan with personnel assigned to each one.

3. Conduct Annual Canvas Campaign for Pledges

1. Identify a chair/chairs for coming canvass
2. Assist in logistical planning of canvass event
3. Develop realistic goals for canvass based on historical perspective, growth and need

4. Develop policies and procedures to manage the funds of the Fellowship consistently, accurately and fairly.

1. Weekly Counting of Collection
2. Manage other income sources through UUFC administrative personnel

5. Provide members with information on individual contributions

1. Quarterly statements released to all members
2. Ability to discuss pledge status on an individual basis as necessary (chair)

6. Work with other UU Committees

1. Discuss financial matters and develop realistic committee budgets
2. Discuss/brainstorm solutions to any crisis as they appear
3. Work with Membership committee to identify members who might need assistance
