Special Emergency Meeting
An emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at 10am on Sunday, December 10, 2000. The meeting was held to discuss the necessity of replacing the furnace(s) that have stopped working. Terry Shaw gave a brief summary of the situation:
Months ago, we were aware the air conditioning unit and one of the furnaces, the one servicing the Social Hall, were not working. We limped along through summer without the A/C unit, and decided to raise the funds for the replacement of both units with the Cool It! Capital Drive. In November, as the capital drive was ending, the furnace servicing the Sanctuary, and had also been used to spill warmth over to the Social Hall, stopped working as well. So, now the status is that there are two furnaces and one A/C unit not working.
Terry Shaw gave the total of the Cool It! Capital Drive at $6,600.00. This is the amount available to spend toward the replacement of these units.
Laura Ingram distributed copies of quotes from two companies, WB Guimarin & Co. and Central Heating and Air Conditioning Service, Inc. She explained that we have a relationship with WB Guimarin. In reviewing the difference in the prices of each company, she also explained that as far as she could understand, the difference had to do with providing sufficient oxygen into the furnace room to keep the pilot light from going out. Central Heating had this task listed as "Install combustion air per code" and was charging $3200.00 for the work. Guimarin was not listing this task at all.
The Board asked Patrick to please contact both companies and discern the differences, acquiring any additional quotes necessary to compare apples to apples. The Board agreed to make a decision the following evening at the regularly scheduled Board meeting.
