Junior High CON at the Mountain
We will taking a group of 6th through 8th graders to the Mountain November 16-18, 2007, for the Junior High CON. The cost is $90.00 per person, which includes lodging and meals. The RE Committee will cover the cost of transportation. Please contact Barbie Seymour at 447-0862 for an application. The absolute deadline for applications and payment is October 28, 2007.
Youth Group Boston Trip
Attention 6th through 12th graders and their parents! Everyone interested in the Youth Group Boston Trip, please plan to attend an important meeting on Sunday, October 28. There is a potluck following the intergenerational service. Please fill your plate and come back to the Youth Group room in the RE wing to discuss plans for this exciting trip
What We've Been Doing -- Sunday, November 3
The junior high group sorted and organized books in preparation for the book sale on November 10. Their efforts are much appreciated!
What We've Been Doing -- Sunday, November 11
Our junior high group was divided into two teams, each of which was asked to construct mobiles using the materials given them in a bag. One group had a full bag of new materials including everything you need to build a mobile. The other group had a mostly empty bag of odds and ends such as broken crayons. This group quickly found out that there was no way they could build a mobile with the materials they had. This activity led into a discussion of educational disparities in South Carolina and The Corridor of Shame.
