Nursery Care for Infants and Toddlers

UUFC provides a nursery during services on most Sundays. Parents may keep their infants and toddlers with them in the service, leave them in the nursery with our experienced staff and volunteers, or use the nursery to provide care themselves. RE classes are provided on most Sundays for children 3 and older.

Religious Education for Children and Youth

We strive to provide developmentally appropriate programming that honors the natural wonder and questioning of children and youth.

We encourage our children and youth to ask about life and the world around them.

We seek to create a nurturing, safe environment for learning and personal growth to occur for each individual.

We do so by offering thematic programs each year that are connected to our four pillars of UU education: world religions and the stories they teach us, our Judeo-Christian connections, our UU history and heritage, and our commitment to community service.

Last year (2006-2007) our Religious Education program covered the world religions pillar, including the stories of Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Goddess and Humanistic traditions.

This year (2007-2008) we are using a different version of the pillars curriculum, in which modules for all four pillars are included each year rather than being in a yearly rotation. Specific topics for Fall 2007 are shown under Class Schedule.

Religious Education for Adults

The UUFC is developing a more active religious education program for adults. This fall we had two 5-week classes on Conflict Management and Welcoming Congregations. Last year we had three classes, including UU 101. Check the Unigram for information on upcoming adult RE classes. Adult RE is provided by a variety of groups; however, the RE Committee is not directly involved with these adult RE programs.
