The Divine Moment
Heather Cunningham
When we are present in the moment, we experience life completely. However diffi-cult to attain, being present is an enlight-ening occurrence that opens us to greater personal and communal clarity, honesty and evolution.

Cooperative Ministries
School Supply Drive
There are more than 12,000 children at or below poverty level in Richland and Lexington counties. Last year Cooperative Ministries was able to provide basic school supplies for 5,000 of those children to help them get a good start for the school year.
Last year our fellowship filled two large boxes with school supply donations. Let’s continue our tradition of generosity. Please bring in your donations of pencils, pens, spiral notebooks, crayons, notebook paper, glue, and pocket folders with brads to the collection box in the social hall by Sunday, August 8. Contributions of children’s books and used spiral notebooks will also be welcomed.
The Social Action Committee is also looking for volunteers to help sort,
package, and distribute the school supplies. Nine UUFC members volunteered
last year. The experience is very rewarding, so please call Jessica Porter
at 808-6536 to volunteer.
Let’s Go See Eyes Wide Shut!
A group of us are going to see Stanley Kubrick’s later movie on Saturday, July 31. We’ll go to an early show (about 4pm) and then adjourn to Don and Pat Mohr’s for a Greek salad dinner and conversation.
If you would like to join us, sign up on the sheet on a table
at the Woodrow Street side of the social hall. We’ll call everybody to
let you know the exact time and what you should bring to contribute to
dinner.Newcomers are especially invited so you can get to know some of
us who have been around for a long time.
The Families First Committee will meet after the
service on August 8 with our adopted family to determine what needs the
family presently had and to plan for meeting their needs as they move toward
independence. Any questions, call Loren Freed (251-0333) or Dillard Thompson
(799-6533).
